About the Event
The Consulate General of Romania in Vancouver and the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, in partnership with the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), proudly present the inaugural edition of the Romanian Film Festival in Vancouver, taking place December 2–4, 2025, with a special Romanian National Day screening on December 1st.
For the first time ever, Vancouver audiences will have the chance to immerse themselves in the unmistakable style and emotional power of contemporary Romanian cinema—one of Europe’s most acclaimed film movements. This new festival brings together a curated selection of award-winning films and documentaries that have captivated audiences around the world through their honesty, depth, and cinematic precision.
Intense, thought-provoking, and visually unforgettable, these stories invite viewers to explore questions of identity, morality, community, and the fragile beauty of everyday life. With this inaugural edition, the Romanian Film Festival becomes a vibrant new cultural bridge between Romania and Canada, opening a window into an artistic tradition defined by sharp insight and fearless storytelling.
