First time at the Independent Art Fair in New York, SUPRAINFINIT Gallery showcases works by Swedish artist Klara Zetterholm—regarded as one of the most remarkable voices of her generation in the Nordic art scene. The miniexhibition features two paleoanthropological reconstructions, humorously imagined as prehistoric humans from a distant future. In this post-glacial world, snow has either disappeared entirely, if it hasn't been artificially reintroduced, or the planet’s inhabitants now ski through toxic interstellar dust and microplastics. SUPRAINFINIT participation at the Independent is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Klara Zetterholm (b. 1991 in Stockholm) lives and works in Stockholm. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm in 2022 and her MFA exhibition was awarded a grant from the Bonnier Foundation. Klara works in a broad field of sculpture, involving painting, installation, and assemblage. Her latest works include bas-reliefs, mostly engaging in faking and forging materials and antiqueness through patina, motifs, and faux stone or wood painting. With a background in scenography and decor painting, the artist employs methods used in stage and set design in order to create false narratives, mainly of archeology and natural history. Drawn to ideas of non-linear time, mythological figures and science fiction, her works convey a sense of uncanniness and reflections on binaries such as the ultramodern and the prehistoric, the prosperous and the apocalyptic. ‍Selected solo and group exhibitions: group presentation at SUPRAINFINIT in Bucharest (2023), the MFA spring show at Kungl. Konsthögskolan (2022), Inside/Outside at Coulisse gallery (2022), CREAM (2022), Downtown Issues at Issues gallery (2021), and Survival of the fittest at Accelerator (2020). Upcoming shows in 2023 include a solo show at Thomassen gallery in Gothenburg and a temporary exhibition at Odenplan’s subway station in association with Kulturförvaltingen.

Dedicated to showcasing conceptual art practices in Eastern and Central Europe, SUPRAINFINIT represents emerging, mid-career, and established artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. The gallery engages local and international audiences through a wide range of artistic media. Committed to supporting newly commissioned works and large-scale installations, the gallery plays a key role in Bucharest’s cultural ecosystem and in Eastern Europe more broadly. Alongside its exhibitions, the gallery prioritises public programming to deepen and expand curatorial and artistic visions. Founded in 2015 by Suzana Vasilescu and co-directed with Artistic Director Cristina Vasilescu, SUPRAINFINIT takes its name from the utopian, pluralistic universe imagined by the artist collective Apparatus 22.

The 16th edition of the Independent Art Fair is taking place at Spring Studios, Tribeca, New York, from May 8–11, 2025123. The fair features contemporary art from emerging to established programs worldwide.
