Diana Jipa & Ștefan Doniga Present “ROOTS” at Carnegie Hall
A musical dialogue between Romanian, European, and American traditions

About the Event
An exceptional musical dialogue between Romania, Europe, and the United States comes to Carnegie Hall as acclaimed Romanian musicians Diana Jipa (violin) and Ștefan Doniga (piano) present "ROOTS", a specially curated chamber recital at Weill Recital Hall on October 1.
Conceived in the year marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence of the United States and the celebratory year dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși, the program explores the ways in which tradition, folklore, and cultural memory are transformed into contemporary artistic language. At its heart are two emblematic figures of Romanian culture, George Enescu and Constantin Brâncuși, whose legacies provide the starting point for a broader musical conversation across cultures and generations.
The program brings together works by George Enescu, Diana Rotaru, Roman Vlad, Remus Georgescu, Dan Dediu, Serghei Bortkiewicz, Béla Bartók, and Aaron Copland, creating a musical journey in which Romanian heritage encounters essential European and American voices. Among the highlights is the world premiere of Diana Rotaru’s ROOTS and LOOPS, specially commissioned for the project and dedicated to the 2026 celebratory year of Constantin Brâncuși, alongside Enescu’s landmark Sonata No. 3 “in Romanian Folk Character,” presented on the centenary of its composition.
The recital also continues the remarkable artistic partnership of Diana Jipa and Ștefan Doniga, whose international projects dedicated to Romanian and universal musical heritage have taken them around the world. The two musicians recently entered the Guinness World Records for the fastest musical tour across all seven continents, completed in 98 days.
Presented in one of the world’s most iconic musical institutions, "ROOTS" transforms the recital into a meeting point between heritage and modernity, inviting New York audiences to encounter Romanian musical culture as a living, contemporary voice in dialogue with the wider world.
The event is created and organized by Innovarte Productions, with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York as communication partner.
