/SAC

(THE CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE)

Created in 2018, Bucharest-based /SAC acts as a cooperative link and transdisciplinary interface of artistic and curatorial initiatives, connecting various disciplines and artistic practices. As an alternative platform, its overall goal is to participate in the (re)contextualization and historical update of contemporary independent artistic expressions through exhibitions, research, and communication. /SAC offers a space of collaboration, interaction and dialogue among artists, curators and theoreticians active both in local and international contexts.

#Episode 7: /SAC

Most recent projects:

NON-FERROUS APPETITE / MARIUS RITIU

In the present project, copper is brought experimentally into a conceptual, non-objective dimension - it no longer plays a "background" role of other ideas, but is extracted and questioned as a "figure". The rules of this exhibition are less common for the artist's practice, being forced to distance himself from the technical, aesthetic and significant autonomy of the "work", and to question the deconstruction, dematerialization and accidentality of the forms and volumes. The alchemical effects of copper, in this case, are correlated and connected with the effects of our contemporaneity, the surplus and socio-technological waste.

PRIVATE JET / DUMITRU GORZO (starting May 11, 2020)

Gorzo and /SAC framed a direct exposure with the object of art, while offering for free 2.000 original works, acrylic on paper, 64x44 cm, handmade through a stencil (encompassing Gorzo’s new bestiary and his already known iconography), to anyone who wanted to receive and exhibit one in its own personal space. If pandemic restrictions and fears question the direct contact with the exhibition, then Private Jet is scrutinizing the need to reconsider the interaction with the exhibited art objects. Sending the exhibition to thousands of people’s homes, their personal space became both part of the exhibition space and part of the work. Private Jet is an action-exhibition-network with 2.000 different situations, brought together and assembled in a single art-work-action.
