About The Event

The week’s recital on the virtual stage of our Enescu Soirees is put on by one of the most accomplished Romanian classical musicians, a graduate of the famous and famously impenetrable Juilliard, REMUS AZOIȚEI. From London, the violin maestro sends his regards to New York City and North America through a highly polished rendition of Bach’s "mighty Chaconne", to use his own words.

Watch on our FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE and BLOG from Thursday, June 4, 7 p.m. EDT or anytime later.

Violinist REMUS AZOIȚEI is hailed in the international press as "a subtle and sensitive violinist" (The Strad) with a "sparkling technique" (The Washington Post). Based in London, he has performed in internationally-recognised venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Konzerthaus Berlin, Bozar in Bruxelles, Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C., Salle Gaveau in Paris and Wigmore Hall in London, to name a few. His recordings of the entire repertoire for violin and piano by George Enescu are widely acknowledged to have set the new standard of interpretation in this respect. He completed his studies at the Juilliard School in New York and Royal Academy of Music in London, under the renowned guidance of Itzhak Perlman, Dororthy DeLay, and Maurice Hasson. Azoiței teaches at the Royal Academy of Music since 2001, where he was the youngest violin professor ever appointed. He is a regular juror in such prestigious international violin contests as the George Enescu, Louis Spohr or Marktneukirchen and travels around the world performing concerts and giving violin masterclasses.
