About The Event
We are excited to support the first American showcase of “The Atlas of Beauty”, a visual hymn to women’s beauty and a memorable illustration of its infinite facets and forms. The exhibition, opening at the United Nations on March 25, displays a selection of the 500+ women portraits from all regions and races of the world, which Romanian artist MIHAELA NOROC has captured during several years of global journeys with the goal to document the inherent, enriching diversity of feminine beauty.
The exhibition is produced by the Romanian Cultural Institute in partnership with the Permanent Mission of Romania to the United Nations.
MIHAELA NOROC is a world-renowned photographer whose work is shown primarily through her social media projects. She studied Photo-Video at The National University of Arts in Bucharest. In 2012, after several years of work in various other domains, Mihaela decided to focus all her energy on her first love: photography. A trip to Ethiopia, where she discovered incredible feminine faces, inspired her to start shooting “The Atlas of Beauty”, which proved immensely popular and launched her international career. The Atlas of Beauty. Women of the World in 500 Portraits was first published by Ten Speed Press in September 2017; the Romanian edition, released by Humanitas Publishing House, followed shortly. Mihaela’s work has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, and the BBC.
