About The Event

We are filling with theater every hour (and more) of the longest day of the year! Don’t miss the 25-hour theatrical marathon, "Hektameron" - a unique experiment produced by the “Marin Sorescu” National Theater Craiova, bringing together no less than 100 directors from 100 different countries (including the US) under one, timely theme: human resilience when faced with hard times.

Inspired by “The Decameron”, Giovanni Boccaccio’s collection of novellas written over 650 years ago, the project stages the book’s 100 short stories which reflect today’s state of the world.  Isolation, fear and death are present just as they were at the time “The Decameron” was written in the immediate aftermath of the Black Death that struck Florence in 1348. Each episode highlights different personal perspectives and techniques, all coming together in creating a coherent bigger picture of the times we are living.

The show will be brodcasted live on https://hektomeron.com/live/ on June 21/22, starting at at 12 a.m. New York time / 7 p.m. Bucharest time.
