About The Event
We are glad to support the new performance and installation by Éva Mag, "Dead Matter Moves", at the 8th edition of Performa Biennial 19, taking place between November 1–24 at various locations throughout New York City.
In collaboration with ten movement artists and performers over the course of a week, the Romanian-Swedish artist will create a durational work in the historic Judson Memorial Church. The ensemble will make several clay sculptures out of textile skins, experiment with contact improvisation and compose a score, all part of a stage performance directed by Éva Mag.
This is a free event. No booking necessary.
Éva Mag’s multidisciplinary practice spans photography, sculpture, installation, photography, and performance. An interest in the history of sculpture, amorphous forms and strict modernist morphology undergirds her practice. She is also concerned with the social aspects of art, specifically incorporating sculpture within the modes of choreography and performance. In recent years Éva has participated in exhibitions at Kunsthall Trondheim (2019), Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2018), and Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm (2018). She is a recipient of the Åke Andrén Stiftelse grant (2017).
