About The Event
This October, Bucharest becomes the meeting point for a landmark moment in Romanian–American cultural exchange as Migration Diary. New York City Edition, the acclaimed multimedia theatre production written and directed by award-winning Romanian director Carmen Lidia Vidu, makes its Romanian premiere at the 36th National Theatre Festival (FNT36). Following its world premiere at New York’s legendary La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in June 2026, the production arrives at the “I.L. Caragiale” National Theatre with its original New York cast, bringing four extraordinary personal stories across the Atlantic.
Presented in New York by La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, and the “I.L. Caragiale” National Theatre of Bucharest, the production brings real lives to the stage inside one of the world’s most influential homes of experimental theatre. No invented characters. No fictional dialogue. Just the stories people carry across borders.
