About The Event
We are delighted to invite you to a special performance of The Pit, the haunting allegory by acclaimed Romanian-French playwright Matei Vișniec, hosted by the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York. Written in 1988 during the waning days of European communism, The Pit remains a chillingly relevant exploration of authoritarianism, complicity, and the human psyche. In this gripping drama, two men find themselves trapped in a deep pit, confronting their fears, guilt, and the ominous presence of unseen "snakes." Their isolation is interrupted by the arrival of a mysterious third man who offers them a questionable path to escape.
