About The Event

EUNIC New York is celebrating the 25th anniversary European Day of Languages through a new initiative: an interactive digital map tracing the presence of Europe across the city’s cultural landmarks. As part of this project, bringing together Poland, Austria, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, Portugal, the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York highlights the work of Constantin Brâncuși, one of the most influential voices of modern sculpture. MoMA’s collection of Brâncuși’s work serves as the focal point, with curator and writer Adriana Blidaru examining how Romanian language, folklore, and mythology inform the great artist’s vision. Featured works include "Măiastra", rooted in Romanian folk tradition, and "Bird in Space", the groundbreaking sculpture that transformed legal and artistic definitions in the United States. Together, they reflect Brâncuși’s enduring ability to distill myth and meaning into pure form as well as his life-long attachment to the Romanian langauge. Watch the…
