About The Event

The socially conscious architecture practice Atelier AD HOC will represent Romania in the ECO Solidarity showcase, a multidisciplinary initiative that rallies a group of nine European design practitioners who explore radical sustainability in architecture, urban planning, product design and development, energy and waste, standing in solidarity in the face of global humanitarian, public health, and ecological crises.

The exhibition is set up under the aegis of EUNIC, the association of European cultural institutes and cultural attaches working in New York City, as part of WantedDesign Manhattan, the leading American design fair, and is hosted by the Javits Center between May 15-17. Atelier AD HOC’s George Marinescu and Maria Daria Oancea will join other participating designers and architects in a talk about pursuing transformative design solutions to alleviate social ills and sustainability problems, which will take place at Javits Center on Sunday, May 15.

Atelier AD HOC is a Bucharest-based architecture practice focused on the shifting situations of public space, living conditions, property, and land use, as manifested in the everyday life of the city. Founded by architects George Marinescu and Maria Daria Oancea as a dual practice consisting of a design studio and a non-governmental organization, Atelier AD HOC engages with social and spatial vulnerability, dealing with informal or planned aspects of architecture.
