The perennial genius of Beethoven is celebrated in this week's recital at the Enescu Soirees Online, featuring two brilliant young musicians, violinist Mălina Ciobanu and pianist Daria Tudor, ready to offer an evening of passion, prowess, and precision. Alongside Beethoven's Sonata no. 8 in G Major, the program also features the Polonaise Brillante in A Major by Polish composer and violin sensation of the Romantic era, Henryk Wieniawski.
Violinist MĂLINA CIOBANU was born in 1998 and started playing the violin at the age of 7. She studied under the guidance of Prof. Bujor Prelipcean and, starting from 2017, was accepted as a student at the Barenboim-Said Akademie in the class of Prof. Mihaela Martin. She participated in masterclasses given by great violinists like Igor Oistrakh, Zakhar Bron, Pierre Amoyal, Ida Haendel, and Arnold Steinhardt. As a chamber musician, Mălina shared the stage with Denis Kozhukhin, Mihaela Martin, Clara Jumi Kang, Michael Barenboim, Frans Helmerson, and Elena Bashkirova. The young violinist won the 1st Prize at the Erich Bergel International Competition, is a laureate of the Concertino Praga International Competition, won the Grand Prix of the Remember Enescu International Competition and the Grand Prix of the Paul Constantinescu International Violin Competition. She plays a Baldantoni violin kindly loaned to her through the Beare’s International Violin Society.
Pianist DARIA TUDOR wad born in 1997 and started playing the piano at the age of 4. She studied in Bucharest with Professors Şerban-Dimitrie Soreanu and Adriana Bocăneanu. In February 2015 she was accepted at Universität der Künste Berlin where she studied with Prof. Pascal Devoyon and Rikako Murata. Since October 2018 she has been studying with Prof. Björn Lehmann at UdK Berlin. For the last 5 years she has been working as a Docent for Lied accompaniment in contemporary Lied classes with Prof. Axel Bauni and Eric Schneider. Daria Tudor was awarded the prize for Best Pianist at the Paula Salomon-Lindberg Lied Competition in 2017 and 2019. In 2019 she has been awarded the Enlight Prize at the Art of the Piano Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a chamber musician, she has been sharing the stage with musicians like Zakhar Bron, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Mihaela Martin, Andrei Ioniță, Eric Schneider, Christel Lee, Florian Mitrea, and Stephan Braun. She is a member of Trio Sternin (together with violinist Georgeta Iordache and cellist Andrei Ioniţă), Duo Presto (together with violinist Mao Konishi) and Trio Pyxis (violinist Mao Konishi and cellist Haruma Sato).
