On June 17, 2020 we had as guest in our Feraru Conferences Online series Dr. CHARLES FRANK, former Acting President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and board member of the influential American NGO promoting the US-Romanian partnership, Alianța. The discussion dealt with the turbulent prospects of the economic arena and their impact on the transatlantic cooperation, including the cultural sectors.

CHARLES FRANK is a former First Vice President and Acting President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) (1997-2001), Senior Fellow of Brookings Institution (1972-1974 and 2013-2018), Director of Central European Media Enterprises (2001-2018), and owner of Time Out Bucharest. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University (1963). Earlier in his career, Dr. Frank was a Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton, Yale, and Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, and a Vice President at Salomon Brothers (1978-1987) and GE Capital (1988-1997). Between 1974 and 1978 he was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Social Affairs and Chief Economist on Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State. He wrote several books among which: Economic Accounting and Development Planning, with Brian Van Arkadie (Oxford University Press, 1969), Statistics and Econometrics (Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1971), Income Distribution and Growth in the Less-Developed Countries, co-edited with Richard Webb (The Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C., 1977), Income Distribution: Problems and Policies in Developing Countries (The Brookings Institution, 1981), Foreign Trade and Domestic Aid (The Brookings Institution, 1977).
