About The Event
We are proud to announce the continuation of our program of Romanian language classes for adult beginners, launched at the beginning of 2019. Taught by Columbia University professor Mona Momescu on our welcoming premises in Murray Hill, the course aims to provide a thorough and enjoyable introduction to contemporary Romanian.
By the end of the course, students will have learned basic grammatical constructions and acquired an essential vocabulary allowing them to communicate effectively within a range of everyday life situations. The course will be taught in Romanian and English, with coverage of the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as a good balance between grammar and structure practice, on one hand, and communicative activities, on the other.
With an extensive experience in teaching Romanian as a second language, both in traditional and hybrid modes, Dr. Mona Momescu currently holds the "Nicolae Iorga" Chair in Romanian Language and Culture at Columbia University. She is the author of Canon, Identity, Transition (University of Bucharest Publishing House, 2008), co-author and editor, together with Sorin Adam Matei, of The Idols of the Forum (Corint, 2010), and has published numerous articles on cultural models, language and culture.
